December 26, 2005 - Houston and Marva attended the BMRT Christmas Party at the Chatterbox Lounge. Everyone enjoyed the party, especially Houston!  Houston won a $50.00 Cortana Mall Gift Certificate in the Door Prize Drawing.
        Go Houston! Go Houston!

December 24, 2005 - Houston road his new motorcycle with the "Nubian Kruzers" Motorcycle Club as they delivered Christmas gifts to children in Baton Rouge General Hospital today.  The Christmas gifts were donated by Gerry Lane Enterprises of Baton Rouge.  Approximately 30 motorcycle riders were given an escort, by the Baton Rouge Police Department, from Gerry Lane Chevrolet to the hospital.

Houston said he was truly touched and it made him very happy to participate in the event.  Houston is thinking about joining the Nubian Kruzers Motorcycle Club.  The motorcycle club has been very active in helping the community during the Hurricane Katrina disaster and they have stepped up to the plate on more than one occasion and helped various organizations around the city to cope with the new residents of our city.

November 13, 2005 - Houston and Marva road into the monthly meeting on a beautiful copper colored Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle!

October 11, 2005 - Houston would like to thank all of the racers from all over that have called, emailed and contacted him by other means, to express their concern about his accident.  It really makes a racer feel good when other racers express concern, and offer help to get going again, to a fellow racer.  Houston is a regular on the message board at http://www.racepics.net

Houston opened the rear end and found nothing wrong.  During the past week he had adjusted the four-link and the combination of the adjustment and the weak shocks is, most likely, what caused the problem.  Houston is purchasing new Koni, double adjustable, shocks for the rear and he is sending his front struts off to be reconditioned.  While that is being done, he is going to rebuild his transmission and he is sending the converter off to be overhauled.

October 8, 2005 - Houston has determined that the shocks on the car are not working.  He is replacing them with a set of Koni Adjustable Shocks.

Photos - Houston Testing at NPRP - Oct. 7, 2005

October 7, 2005 - Racing returns to NPRP and Houston wanted to test on a really well prepared track to try to find his handling problems.  When he left the line, the car started out straight but it drifted to the right and Houston corrected it and the car headed to the wall on the left side of the track, then it came back and Houston crossed the center line and then headed back towards the wall for a 2nd time.  The car then swung back across the center line and hit Keith Hunter's Mustang in the drivers door!  The damage to both cars was only cosmetic, with Keith getting a door ding that was about 2 feet long and one foot high, that did not hit the inner skin of the door.  Houston cracked the fiberglass on the front right of his car in the headlight area.  Both cars drove off under their own power.  Keith came back to participate in the Super Pro eliminations.  Houston, along with his chassis man, were trying to figure out what is wrong with the car.  Inspection of the underside of the car did not show any broken parts.  Houston will go into the rear end this coming week and check everything, inside and out.

September 30, 2005 - Houston was at State Capitol Dragway after working through two hurricanes, installing a new room on his home, a beautiful bedroom for Marva and Houston, and repairing his transmission.  The Taz is getting ready for the Battle on the Bayou at Louisiana Dragway on Oct. 15, 2005.  He got back in the groove by winning the trophy in Super Pro.  there were eight cars in the class and Houston had easy pickings for the trophy.  His had some trouble on his first test run.  The car went straight for the center line before Houston could pull it back.  Some adjustments to the front shocks was made and the car ran fairly straight after that.  The times were not what was expected, but still respectable at, 8.48 @ 168 MPH, for the best run.  Houston will put new tires on the car this week and test again on Friday night at State Capitol.

August 5, 2005 - The Taz is back!  Houston tested Friday at State Capitol Dragway.  His best time was 8.24 @ 160 MPH.  This was only a test and he will tweak on it and get back down to where he was running before.  Houston was very happy with his test session.
Marva was at the track with her God son.

July 29, 2005 - Houston has installed his engine and transmission.  He tested the engine and found bad spark plug wires that was causing a miss and flat spot.  Of course everything else was checked and the plug were changed before looking at the wires.  He found a few wires that had zero ohms resistance.  He installed a new set of Taylor 8mm wires and the engine woke up.  Houston says the Power Is Back!

June 30, 2005 - Houston has accepted the challenge from Mr. Mad and Tery Red of Houston, TX to have a Match Race at the Louisiana Drag Classic!  Houston says this has given him the incentive to hurry up and finish his work on the car and get it ready before the race.  Look out!  Texas vs. Louisiana!

June 26, 2005 - Houston and Marva returned safely, well rested and sporting a deep tan!  They said they enjoyed their trip and they are looking forward to their next cruise.  Houston could not wait to get to the team meeting, after getting off the ship around Noon, he made it to the meeting.  We listened to all of his stories about the trip and what a wonderful time they had.

 Houston After Cruise

June 23, 2005 - Houston & Marva, you should be half way done now, and just in case you take a look at the web site while you are enjoying your cruise, I hope you enjoyed the trip down to Jamaica and over to Grand Cayman (best stop on the trip).  I should have asked you to bring me some of that good Rum Cake back.  Oh, bye the way, did you go to Hell?  Enjoy the rest of your trip to Cozumel, and don't drink the water!

June 19, 2005 - Marva and Houston are leaving for a cruise in the Western Caribbean today.  They will leave from New Orleans for a 7 day trip.  Bon Voyage!   Houston may gain a little weight while cruising.  Eat, eat, eat!  The food is so good and there is so much of it!  Enjoy!

May 27, 2005 - Houston took the car out to State Capitol Dragway to the Friday night test and tune.  He was not able to get any good passes in for different reasons, but the car did run good.  The best time was 8.59 @ 165 MPH, but that was not really representative of what the car will do.  Traction was really bad and he had to fight to keep it off of the rail.  All is well with the car and Houston will be back.

May 9, 2005 - Houston reports his engine is back in the car after removing the pistons and having them fly cut to clear the valves.  After the head work, the piston to valve clearance was too tight, < .040", and he had to get the extra relief.  The work was done by Bill Doucet of Doucet Motorsports, Lawtell, LA.  Houston says he can feel the new power!  He will be testing, weather permitting, at No Problem Raceway Park Weds. of this week.

March 5, 2005 - Houston and Marva returned to the track as spectators today.  They decided not to work on the engine.  A rush repair may overlook the problem that caused the breakage.

March 4, 2004 - Houston took the Camaro to Super Chevy Show at No Problem Raceway Park.  This is what everybody has been waiting for!  Houston made his first pass with all the new stuff and it was great!  He ran 4.743 in the 1/8th mile, and passed through the 1/4 mile at 7.741 @ 162 MPH!  The car was slowing as it went through the traps.  Houston later discovered a broken rocker stud and a cracked component in the rocker assembly.  Houston was really excited, along with all his teammates, over the seven second pass!

Houston will return home with the car tonight and work on removing the broken stud.  He has another rocker assembly to put on.  He should be ready for the Bonus Race on Sat. and Sunday's big Bracket-1 race.

March 2, 2005 - Houston took his car to Monroe for an individual chassis inspection by Mr. Wesley Roberson, NHRA Division 4 Chassis Inspector.  The car passed the 25.1E requirements with no problem, and is certified to run down to 6.0 sec. ET in the quarter-mile.

February 27, 2005 - Houston picked up the car from Darren Breaud, B & B Race Cars in Greenwell Springs, LA.  Houston must recertify to be legal under 8.50 sec., down to 6.00 sec. he needed to have one bar added and one modified to meet the new specifications.  The car will be taken to Monroe, LA for certification on Wed. March 2nd.

Houston will be ready for the Super Chevy show this coming weekend at No Problem Raceway Park.  Everyone is ready for the Super Chevy Show because it is the first time, since the early 90's, the show has been in the Baton Rouge area.   We are also wondering where Pat is going to put all those cars, with the car show, the swap meet and the vendor midway taking up so much space.  Racers will probably be parked close to the last turn-off, which is sort of like Houston Raceway Park at a national event and they still have some racers parked on the spectator side.

February 23, 2005 - Houston and three of the Bracket Masters Racing Team showed their cars at Capital High School at the Auto Tech class area.  Mr. Kevin Stuart, Auto Tech Instructor, hosted the event.  This was the first car show at Capital High School.
Houston talked to many of the kids during the day about the hard work and education that it takes to be able to afford a car like he drives.  Houston tells the kids about the dangers of the streets, selling drugs and getting into trouble.  He stresses short term gains from illegal activities do not lead to long term happiness and freedom.
Houston's car was looking and sounding very good after the recent head and manifold work.  He can't wait for this weekend to test it out.

February 20, 2005 - Houston reports that the car is back in one piece and ready to roll!  The first showing will be at the Capital High School car show on Feb. 23, 2005.  Houston reports that everything works and sounds very good.  We can't wait to see how it will run.  Bill Doucet did the work on the heads and match ported the intake. Everything looks just great and the manifold and heads are matched ''Perfectly''.  Very very good work.
