/23/03 - Willie has arranged to have the Mayor of Baton Rouge visit the Glen Oaks Auto Tech Program on Feb. 26, 2003.  The Mayor expressed an interest after seeing the TV News program on the BMRT Car Show that was shot on 1/21/03 from the school.

/26/03 - Baton Rouge Mayor, Bobby Simpson, visited the school and was very impressed with the knowledge of the young students in the Auto Tech Program.  In addition to the Mayor, School Superintendent Clayton Wilcox and Director of the Office of Career and Technical Education, Ed Storey, were also on site for a visit.

/1/03 - The team visited the Maringouin Mardi Gras Parade for the second year.  Willie had the El Camino all shined up and looked excellent as the parade rolled through the record crowd.

/1/03 - After moving through the parade, Willie and several of the team members took cars to the first Cortana Mall Car Show in Baton Rouge.  Willie is a member of one of the car clubs (El Camino Club) that has formed a federation to sponsor this free car show each month at Cortana Mall.

/28/03 - Willie donated a complete race car chassis, with roll bar to the Glen Oaks High School Auto Tech class.  The car is a 1976 full body Camaro.  Mr. Lyons is very excited at the thought of having a project car to work on.  As soon as the car arrived in the shop the boys started to work on getting it ready.  Willie hopes this is the start of race car building competition among the various high school auto tech programs in the city.

/23/03 - Willie picked up a new station wagon chassis from Wizard Racing today.   The wagon will be a race car from the ground up.   It is being built to run low 10 second times with super consistency.   This should be a special wagon when it is finished.   The engine will be a stroker small block.   The sheet metal interior must be put in and all the instruments.   The body work is the next step.   Stand by for more information as it is released by Willie.

/20/03 - Willie took the El Camino out to Street Night at State Capitol Dragway Friday night, and Willie driving his own car, won the Street Class!  Congratulations to driver/owner Willie!

/7/03 - The new wagon sheet metal and body work are complete.  The car is now in for painting.  Willie had hoped to have the wagon back in time for the Louisiana Drag Classic, October 4th, at No Problem Raceway Park.  Willie still has hopes, but that will be very tight.

/18/03 - Willie and Jeremy traveled to the Super Chevy Show in Houston, TX to defend their Street Championship, won there last year, but the event was rained out.  They took the El Camino this year and it was running very good in time trials with some low 11 second runs on Saturday.

/9/03 - Mr. Willie entered the El Camino in the 2003 Louisiana Drag Classic.  Willie was a busy man during the race, for the first time the team members were allowed to run their cars in the race and Willie concentrated most of his time to running the El Camino until he lost in the 2nd round.

/06/03 - Willie has a new wagon!  This SBC 434, 680 HP Malibu Wagon was built by Jason Wood of Wizard Racing.  Much of the work on the electrical system and the engine and header installation was done by James Richardson and John Collins.  The paint was done by Belle Rose Paint and Body.  The wagon is about 85% complete and should be ready for next racing season.  All that remains is reinstalling the sheet metal, a few cosmetic paint items and the window glass and Lexan.

The Wagon will be run in Footbrake class.  This 2300 lbs. wagon is designed to run  slightly above 10 sec. in the quarter mile, although the chassis has already been certified down to 7.50.

You have to be standing next to this beauty to appreciate the paint job and to see the great construction of the chassis and the attention to detail.  This is one great looking wagon!  (click here to see New Wagon photos)
