Each bag contained at least 5 gifts, with things such as, CD Players, DVD Players, Barbie Dolls, Remote Control Cars, Hot Wheel Car Sets, Puzzles and Games, Footballs, Basketballs and Soccer balls. Each bag was labeled with the child's name, age and trailer location. The gift bags were distributed on Dec. 23, 2006.
Bracket Masters Racing Team thanks the racers, State Capitol Raceway and our sponsors, which are listed below. You have provided a Christmas to remember for these children. Photos

Dec. 15, 2006 - Over 700 students and 200 parents attended the D.A.R.E. graduation ceremonies at the mini-dome on Southern University's campus, Friday, Dec. 15, 2006..  The D.A.R.E. program is sponsored by E. B. R. Constable, Major Reginald Brown.   D.A.R.E. gives kids the life skills they need to avoid involvement with drugs, gangs, and violence.  Bracket Masters, The Bayou Boyz and Young Blood Racing participated in a car show for the graduation.  (Photos)

December 8, 2006, The theme of the race was to collect toys for Katrina Kids in our area.  Over 190 toys were collected at the gate.  The team will contribute a significant amount of money from the profits and purchase more toys.  Willie is working with FEMA Officials to get approximately 40 kids from the various camps in our area to participate in the toy give-away.  We will take some of the money and purchase other essential items that these kids may need.  As Reggie Jackson stated at the Board of Directors meeting, "A coat or shoes is better than a toy if that 's what the kid needs."

November 19, 2006 - The Katrina Toys for Kids Race at State Capitol Raceway was a big success.  This was the best, and biggest race that Bracket Masters Racing team has ever put on.  Willie accounted for 90% of the sponsors that participated in the race.  Almost everyone that came to the race had a good time.

October 22, 2006 - Willie was re-elected President of Bracket Masters Racing Team.

October 20, 2006 - Willie's Wagon finished the season in 2nd place in points at No Problem Raceway Park in Super-Pro and they finished in 3rd place at State Capitol Raceway.  Congratulations to Willie and driver, Arnold Jordan.  Arnold and Willie have been invited to participate in a 10 car shootout at No Problem Raceway Park on Sunday, Oct. 22nd.  This will be a part of a bike event taking place at NPRP.  The top ten Super-Pro cars and the top ten Non-E cars will run two brackets during the event.

President Willie Beathley has done an outstanding job of getting the "Bracket Masters Toys for Katrina Kids Race" off the ground.  The race will be at State Capitol Raceway on Sunday,  November 19, 2006.  Flyer

Willie has worked very hard to get sponsors for our race.  So far we have all of the classes covered except Motorcycle.  We did not ask for complete coverage of each class, but just $500 to sponsor a class.  Our Event Partners were asked to chip in $250 each. Red Hot Racing and The Lewis Companies put up a bonus for Quick-16 of $1000 to the top qualifier.  We are wishing for a lot of very fast cars to come out an try to take that $1000 home.  The winners purse for Q-16 is also $1000.  Images Silkscreens & Promotions is going to design a T-shirt with a collage of local cars on the front and all of the sponsors names will be on the back.  Those shirts will be for sale at the event.  Cox Communications is providing 30 second cable TV commercials the week before the race.

We are collecting toys for kids that were displaced into our area by Hurricane Katrina.  We will use some of the profits from the race to purchase more toys and help those families get through the holidays.

Sept. 20, 2006 - Willie, Johnell and Skip took a trip to  No Problem Raceway Park to finalize the Louisiana Drag Classic with Pat.  We established the date for the 2007 Louisiana Drag Classic which will be, September 23, 2007.  Next year, the gates will open later, time trials will start around Noon or 1 pm, and eliminations will be later in the afternoon.

On the way back we stopped by Joe Louis' Car Care on Highway 1 in Plaquemine, LA.  This is the home of "The Bayou Boyz" racing team.  Willie suggested we form an alliance between the two organizations that would benefit both teams.  Willie envisions a group of racers in each of our respective communities working with kids and community organizations on both sides of the river.  We invited the Bayou Boyz to become a part of our web site.

As Willie mentioned on the radio show, there are a lot of racing groups in our community, with some real nice cars, that could represent their groups in some match races or team competition.   We can run for points & or trophies and keep the competition fun.  Any money raised by our organization would have a portion dedicated to helping our communities.

Remember to come visit our team meeting.  Our meeting will be held Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006,  at 5:00 pm.  We meet at Shoney's, close to the intersection of Airline and I-12, in Baton Rouge.

Sept. 18, 2006 - Willie, Jeremy and Arnold returned with great stories about their trip to St. Louis and the Black Sunday race.  They traveled in Arnold's motor home and hooked Willie's Wagon trailer behind it.  In St. Louis, they attended the festivities, which included a live band on Friday and Sat. nights and plenty of food.  They also had a car show and manafacturers midway with lots of items for sale.  The tech and time trials were on Friday and eliminations started on Sat. with no time trials.  Finals were suppose to be on Sunday, but were rained out.

Sept. 14, 2006 - Willie, Jeremy and Arnold departed to attend "Black Sunday" in St. Louis.  They will compete at Gateway International Raceway.

This race, although named "Black Sunday" and hosted by the United Black Drag Racers Association, is open to everyone and all racers are welcome to compete for the over $20,000.00 in prizes and purse.

Sept. 10, 2006 - Willie attended to all duties associated with putting on the Louisiana Drag Classic.  The weather was not the best at the start of the day, but it cleared up enough to get the whole race in.  The car count was very low and contributed to being able to run the race before the sky opened up again around 4:00 pm.  Everyone who attended had a good time.

All racers are invited to attend a special Sunday race event at State Capitol Raceway on November 19, 2006.  Bracket Masters Racing Team will host a race at State Capitol on that date.  We are looking for sponsors for the race.  A marquee sponsor is needed, along with class sponsors.   We plan to have Super-Pro, Non-Elect., Street, Motorcycle and Jr. Dragster classes.   We are currently trying to decide on having Quick-16 (eight dragsters and eight doorslammers) compete over the quarter-mile or the 1/8 mile.

Jeremy Beathley drove the El Camino to the winners circle in the Street Class and picked up a check for $100.

Sept. 3, 2006 - Willie and Tarrus appeared on KQXL-FM (Q106 Dot 5) today and really did a good job of promoting the racing team and the sport of drag racing.  Congratulations Willie & Tarrus.

August 2, 2006 - Willie has talked with East Baton Rouge Parish Constable, Major Reginald Brown about an appearance on his radio show, Sunday, August 27, 2006.  Three members of the team will be able to participate in the interview.  This will be a good time to tell the city the things our team is doing in the community, and to talk about the Louisiana Drag Classic, Sunday Sept. 10, 2006.  Bracket Masters has supported the Constable in the past by bringing several cars and the Jr. Dragster to a Cub Scout meeting and we had a race car present at the 2004 Thanksgiving Dinner, sponsored each year by Major Brown.

July 15, 2006 - Willie's Wagon, driven by Arnold Jordan, won Super Pro class at State Capitol Raceway, after pulling off the back to back runner-ups in the previous two weeks. Willie says the wagon is gaining a winning reputation and drivers are trying to avoid running them.  Again they beat some of the top cars in super pro on their way to the win.  Congratulations are in order again for Willie and Arnold!

July 8, 2006 - Willie's Wagon, driven by Arnold Jordan, for the second week in a row, won Runner-up in Super Pro class, pulling off the back to back runner-ups at two different tracks.  One at State Capitol Raceway and one at No Problem Raceway Park.  It seems that this wagon is built for Arnold.  The knocked off some of the top cars at both tracks before losing in the finals both weekends.  Congratulations Willie and Arnold.

June 18, 2006 - Willie worked very hard with the tracks new owner and the new track manager, Gary Carter, of State Capitol Raceway to put on the William "Dub" Lewis Father's Day Race at State Capitol Raceway.  The event was named after the Father of new track owner, Lanny Lewis.  The event was also a memorial to two departed racers, Tommy Tallo and Vernon McKinney.  Plaques were presented to both families before the start of racing. The track also erected a memorial billboard to honor those two racers.  The track plans to have this event annually and honor a racer each year.  The event was a great success!  Congratulations Willie and State Capitol Raceway!

Everyone had a lot of fun and there was more food than anyone could eat.  This race served as the annual Bracket Masters Picnic for 2006.  Each year for the past three years, BMRT has had a picnic at SCR.  Jeremy Beathley drove the El Camino, but rear end problems prevented him from competing in eliminations.  Arnold Jordan drove Willie's Wagon.

April 28 - May 4, 2006 - Willie participated in the Glen Oaks High School Car Show and the Career Day activities at Prescott Middle School.

April 15-16, 2006 - Two days of racing and in the money both days!  On Sat., Willie's Wagon, with Arnold Jordan driving, took out Young Blood on their way to a top 7 finish.  The wagon was running back at it best after finding a broken poly-lock and bent push rod.
On Sunday, at No Problem Raceway Park, Arnold drove the wagon to victory circle.  Winning the big tire class at the Easter Street Car & Motorcycle Shootout.  Congratulations Willie!

April 7, 2006 - Friday Night Bracket Race won by Mr. Willie's wagon, driven by Arnold Jordan!  Jeremy Beathley goes to the quarter-finals driving the El Camino  Both cars were running just great as they were tuning up for the first Sat. bracket race under new owner Lanny Lewis.  Congratulations to Gary, the new Track Manager at State Capitol Raceway. February 3, 2006 - Willie used his El Camino to assist the 9th grade Science class at Glen Oaks High School study acceleration, velocity and speed by making timed 40 meter runs for five classes.  PHOTOS

January 22, 2006 - Willie is elected President of Bracket Masters Racing Team.  Congratulations Willie!
