Holiday Helpers Benefit Race Flyer
Nov. 15, 2007 - Mr. Willie informed me that Jeremy
won the Street Class! They also won two match races.
Nov. 11-12, 2007 - Willie
worked very hard to make the Holiday Helpers Race at State
Capitol Raceway a success. Although Willie worked hard, he
was more relaxed at this race than at races in the past and was
having a good time. Everything went well the racers,
spectators and the band on Sat. night. There was some
unexpected rain on Saturday, but not enough to even have a
clean-up. The overnight rain was not too much of a problem
either. Sunday was a good day with lots of fast cars and a
full field of Pro-Mods. There were not enough Top
Dragsters to have that class, and they were folded into
Super-Pro. Mr. Willie took charge of the Scooter drawing
and thanks everyone for participating in the race and the
drawing. Willie let everyone know that part of the profits
from all Bracket Masters Races go toward charities that we
select. The last race provided donations to Racers for
Christ, DRAW and Beat The Heat. A portion of the
profits from this race will go the Baton Rouge's Holiday Helpers
to help provide Thanksgiving Dinners to the needy. Last
years November race provided over $2000.00 in toys and clothing
to Katrina victims in the trailer camps in our area.
Sept. 27, 2007 - Willie, Reggie, Tate, Johnell and Skip met with
Gary Carter, Manager of State Capitol Raceway last week to discuss all the
details of the Holiday Helpers Race on Nov. 10-11, 2007. Willie is
working on sponsorship for the different classes. He will write a
letter to be sent out to different potential sponsors. All of the
current supporters of Bracket Masters past races will be contacted and they
will be able to take part in sponsorship as they have in the past.
Gary had several good ideas about how to take advantage of the new
two-day format. Gary suggested that we have Pro-Mods and a Quick-8 for
this event.
The flyer for the race will be posted shortly. For more
information, contact Mr. Willie Beathley at, (225) 928-4977 or
Gary Carter at State Capitol Raceway, (225) 627-4574 or
gary@statecapitolraceway.com
During the last team meeting it was decided to have a band on Sat. night
after the day of racing and qualifying. The band will start around
8pm, after the racing. The admission for the Saturday race will cover
the entry for the band, or you can just come out and enjoy the band.
This year the team has decided to give the 30% of race profits to Holiday
Helpers of Baton Rouge. Holiday Helpers feeds thousands of needy
people each year in the River Center - Baton Rouge at their "Thanksgiving
Together" dinner. They also sponsor two other events for children,
"Christmas for Kids" and Easter for Kids". We feel the money that we
contribute to this organization will be well spent. The Baton Rouge
Constable's office is the primary organization behind Holiday Helpers.
You can contact Sgt. Marc Tabor at (225) 928-4808 if there are questions or
if you would like to volunteer your time to help in any of these events.
Sept. 21, 2007 - The Louisiana Drag Classic was
cancelled early Friday morning, 9/21/ 07, after watching the
weather all week and looking towards the Sunday forecast.
Several out-of-town racers from around the state, called Friday
to say they were not going to make the trip because of the
forecast. We may have been able to get some racing in, but
many racers would not have come to get a rain check or to
participate in a rain shortened event. We will try again
next year
August 11, 2007 - Willie had his El Camino on hand
for the Bayou Boyz School Supply give-away and car show at Joe Louis' Car
Care in Plaquemine, LA He also helped James with the bicycle
give-away.

June 17, 2007 - Showtime! Willie was all over
the track doing whatever it took to keep the racers happy at the Father's
Day Race. He tried to keep up with everything that was going on and he
made the award presentations to J. L. Saizan and Arnold Jordan, who were
selected the Fathers of the Year! They received the William "Dub"
Lewis Shootout, Tommy Tallo/Vernon McKinney award for 2007.
Arnold Jordan drove the station wagon in Super-Pro
and did very well before losing in the late rounds.

June 14, 2007 - Yesterday, Willie had an accident -
he is well. After getting x-rays and being looked at by a doctor at
Baton Rouge General, they allowed Willie to go home with his wife.
Several of the members came to the hospital to make sure he was OK.
A lady, with children in her car, ran a stop sign
and crossed in front of two lanes of traffic and Willie hit her in the
drivers door. The lady and the children were not injured, but they
were also looked at and allowed to leave. Willie's Chevy Duelly did
not fair so well. It was totaled.
Willie is sore, but he is doing OK and he expects
to see everyone at the Father's Day Race at State Capitol Raceway this
Sunday. The Weather looks excellent for the race!
May 20, 2007 - Photos of Willie's new wagon.
Many months of work are left to completion. All electrical and
electronics, fuel system, finish the sheet metal, painting and the drive
train.

May 12, 2006 - Willie and Jeremy traveled to St.
Louis to pick up a new wagon! The new racecar will be really unique,
like nothing anyone in these parts has ever seen. When the project
gets closer to completion, photos will be posted here (Does anyone remember
suicide doors?) The wagon will sport a SBC engine, like all of the
other cars that Mr. Willie has campaigned, and will be run in NHRA Super
Street class.
April 28, 2007 - Willie, Jeremy, many of the team
members and friends traveled to Shreveport, LA to Red River Raceway, at the
invitation of the Shreveport Racers. Jeremy, driving the El Camino,
won the Trophy Class at Red River. Everyone had a very good time and
the hospitality and food were great.
April 15, 2007 - Willie attended Test & Tune at
State Capitol Raceway. Jeremy was driving the El Camino and Arnold
Jordan was driving the wagon. Both cars ran very well and they seem
like they are ready to take on all challengers up in Shreveport.

February 10, 2007 - Willie has been named to the
Louisiana Regional Boy Scouts Board of Directors. He attended his
first board meeting at the Shaw Center in Baton Rouge recently.
Congratulations to Mr. Willie.
Willie has also volunteered to teach classes at
Prescott Middle School for a special program that will introduce students to
family finance, saving and budgeting. This program is a part of
Willie's Rotary Club activities. Willie will teach six, 45 min.
classes over a 6 day period.
